How to use

Usage instructions:
For use with LPG only.

How to use:
FITTING AND OPERATING CONDITIONS • This ALVA regulator is designed to supply gas to gas consuming household appliances at a pressure and capacity as indicated on the identification label (1). • The ALVA Bullnose gas regulator can be fitted to any industrial cylinder equipped with a Bullnose 5/8” BSP left hand industrial (ALVA 9kg) cylinder valve with hand-operated closure (8). Can be identified by the valve exit which is in a HORIZONTAL position, has a 5/8” BSP thread and tightens to the left. (Counter-clockwise) • The gas cylinder must always be in the upright position. • When used outdoors, the ALVA regulator must be suitably protected against rain. • NEVER test for leaks using a flame, rather use a soapy water solution. • Should any unusual situations or problems occur, shut OFF the gas supply and contact your dealer immediately. • Should a leak catch fire at (2) before closing the cylinder valve, throw a heavily soaked wet cloth over the leak, then use another wet cloth to close the cylinder valve. CONNECTING THE REGULATOR TO A HOSE (ONLY IF NECESSARY) • Fit a 8mm SANS 1156 approved hose (3) to the hose nozzle. • Apply hot water to the hose nozzle to facilitate easy connection. • To ensure a gas tight connection, use a regulation hose clamp(4). CONNECTING TO THE GAS CYLINDER • Ensure that all taps of the gas consuming appliance are closed. • Make sure that the connecting pipe to the appliance is correctly fitted. In the absence of any flame, remove the plug or seal cap from the cylinder valve. • Ensure that the nose cone gasket (5) is present, properly engaged and in good condition. • Tighten the union nut (6) by fastening in an anti-clockwise direction as indicated by the arrow (7) sufficiently to seal the joint. • Check for leaks by opening the cylinder valve and applying a soapy water solution to the joint between the cylinder valve and the regulator. • If you find a leak, close the cylinder valve and contact an authorised gas dealer. CYLINDER OPERATION • Make sure that the regulator is fully engaged with the cylinder valve. • The gas supply can then be controlled by turning the valve hand-wheel in the direction of the arrow (8) to close and counter-clockwise to open and control the gas flow. NEVER open the valve to the maximum. Normally a 1½ turn is sufficient to obtain full cylinder pressure. NEVER TRY TO REMOVE THE REGULATOR BEFORE CLOSING THE CYLINDER VALVE. REPLACING THE GAS CYLINDER • Ensure that all the taps of the consuming appliance are in the closed position. • Make sure that the cylinder valve is closed. • Disconnect the ALVA regulator by unscrewing the union nut (6).
